Sonder is designed to make room for difficult feelings without making harm visible to others. Every trace is checked before it can be shared, and a trace in review remains visible only to its author.
What is allowed
General sadness, depression, loneliness, numbness, frustration, and non-encouraging discussion of difficult experiences belong here. Sonder does not remove a trace simply because it is dark, uncomfortable, or emotionally heavy.
A trace may be held or removed when it contains hate or discrimination, direct threats, severe harassment, explicit encouragement of self-harm or suicide, sexual violence, or graphic content.
Why a safe trace can still wait
Review is deliberately fail-safe. If the automatic check is unavailable, times out, returns an invalid result, or cannot confidently classify a trace, Sonder keeps that trace private instead of publishing it without a completed check.
This is a temporary safety state, not a judgment about you or your writing. New traces show whether they are awaiting a completed automatic check or receiving a private content review.
What happens next
- 1. Private by default. A trace is not visible to other people until it is published.
- 2. Clear status. Your own trace explains the broad reason it is waiting. Administrators see a more specific operational category so they can diagnose failures without exposing model output publicly.
- 3. Human decision. A reviewer can publish or reject a trace in the moderation console. Sonder does not promise real-time review or crisis response.
Important limits
Sonder is not therapy, emergency assistance, or a continuously monitored crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency or professional crisis services. For a moderation question or a trace that seems to be waiting in error, use the contact page.
